ADVENTURE OF AN UNDERSTUDY
When they reach at Strelsau they are welcomed by a vast crowd of people. Rassendyll is met with highly officials of the Ruritania, i.e. Marshall Strakencz, the commander in chief, the chancellor of the kingdom. He receives an apology from the Duke of Strelsau that he is not able to welcome him due to illness. Then he is visited Strelsau which is divided into two parts, the new and old city. Rassendyll is informed that the people of new city love the king while the people of old city adore Black Michael. When they pass through the Grand Boulovard, Rassendyll is impressed with the beautiful scene of the Royal palace. People clap and pray for the king. He sees that the woman, who once traveled with him in the train, is also there to welcome him. After few yards Marshall turns round and Rudolf is covered with guards and Rassendyll says,
“Why this change in our order, Marshall?”
Here Rassendyll uses his wisdom and says,
“Let those in front ride on till they are fifty yards ahead.”
He wants to win the hearts of people and listens their comments. Listening the comments of the people and visiting different places he reaches the Cathedral and meets with Princes Flavia and Black Michael. In the Cathedral, Rassendyll is crowned by Cardinal and receives a letter from the Pope of Rome, he is informed to be cautious from the conspiracy of Black Michael by Princes Flavia and he tries to win the heart of Prices as he says to her,
“Whatever pleases you I try do.”
He takes formal possession of the thrown as the king. After some time they reach in the palace.
