HIS MAJESTY SLEEPS IN STRELSAU
Sapt thinks that who has sent the message to Black Michael that the king is here in Zenda. Sapt says,
“They must have sent it before new of your arrival at Strelsau reached Zenda — I suppose it came from Zenda.”
Rassendyll says that nobody knows that where is the king now? He might have killed. Sapt says that they will go in Strelsau again and keep this game play till the king is rescued. Rassendyll denies while Sapt says,
“If you play the man you may save the king yet. Go back and keep his throne warm for him.”
Rassendyll says that if they kill the real king. Sapt says that they will not do this and if they do than you will be the king. Rassendyll says if he is arrested or recognized by someone. Sapt says that he will not let anyone to do this and if Rudolf Elphberg is killed then,
“Then, by Heaven. You are as good an Elphberg as Black Michael, and you shall reign in Ruritania.”
Sapt moves to return but Rassendyll says that they should burry Josef. Soon they feel the sound of some people coming towards them. Sapt says that they are coming to remove their sins. Rassendyll says that now we have to take revenge of innocent Josef. They hide themselves and when they reach near they start fighting. In this fighting three men are killed but they (Sapt and Rassendyll) remain safe only Rassendyll gets his finger wounded. They return Strelsau safely. Rassendyll reaches his room and is told that Princess asks about the health of Rudolf. He thanks the Princess saying to her servant,
“My best thanks, sir, to my cousin and tell her Royal Highness that the king has slept without a break all night.”
When the servant of Princess goes out. Fritz asks,
“Is the king dead.”
Sapt says,
“Please God no, but he’s in the hands of Black Michael.”
